What?! Lego Zombie Apocalypse?

Geekologie did it again!

Now if only this was an actual Lego series... I would totally start buying them again. It's bad enough I'm tempted to get the Space Police sets all the stores are selling at discount prices.

Anyway, check the link!

Kudos to the original sources!

Back to Basics: 40k Alternative Hobby Stuffs

Whew! This whole job hunt thing is really biting into my "find spare time for random crap" time.

Anyway, unless you've been living under a rock or are just starting to get into the world of Warhammer 40k, you may notice a lot of Games Workshop's items are rather...pricey. Coming from a college post-grad, pricey is bad. Granted, scale model building and miniature wargaming definitely do not work best for the cheap and stingy.

However, the guys at Warmaster 40k posted an article a while back concerning the common practice of finding good alternatives to all of Games Workshop's massively overpriced hobby tools and supplies.

I'm sure if you're reading this, there's nothing here that is too groundbreaking for you. However, this particular article references GW's old paint supplier, as well as a merchant selling said paint for about $1.50 each jar. Now, if you really like Citadel paints, this is a GODSEND. Check it here!

Now...off to actually do something with my army...

I'm back!

So yeah...

After realizing how neglected my Blogger account was, I figured it should be time for me to actually use this blog for something. I had created a new personal blog on Tumblr, but I figured that I should probably keep my personal blogging away from my hobby-related work.

So, instead of this being a RSS dumping ground, I'll be devoting this blog to my hobby work for miniature wargaming and other assorted geekiness that I partake in. I'll be posting more stuff soon, as I have plenty of new projects I'm working on!

New Stuff

Yep, we're back again with some new links.

Repurposed Door in the Workshop
If I actually had a workshop to myself, this would an awesome and stylish integration to a floating pegboard.

Mismatched Hooks For Your In-Home Landing
Just in case you need to make your entryway fancy-looking. I have so many odds-and-ends, it's ridiculous.

Container Water Garden
This is awesome. That's all I can say.

How Renters Can Go Green
Ever the friendly hippie, I will always give these sorts of things a second look. Give it a shot, guys!

Portable Office
Weird as hell, but awesome.

Steampunk Computer Monitor Tutorial
Something else that's pretty cool.

Wallet From a Carton
I always love little DIY tutorials like this.

Enjoy!

Couldn't HELP but want to post this...

DIY Grass Charging Station

Beats the hell out of buying the ~$30-$40 one online.

Got Lots of Good Things On Sale, Stranger!

I let my RSS go for a few days, and I'm over 1,000 pages overdue for a check. Blah.

There's been one thing that's worthy of posting. If anyone wants to post some of their own products for sale, LifeHacker just posted this awesome list:
Set Up Shop Online
Awesome!

Also, with Father's Day so close, I feel bad that I didn't really do much for my mother back in May during Mother's Day. Then I stumbled across this:
Chalkboard Paint Projects
I was already going to do a storage bin project involving unused paint cans and chalkboard paint, so I thought that I could do the whole chalk pebble thing for Mom. I hope this will work out!

Almost time for bed!

If Only I Had My Own Place...

Finally got something together to post again. It's mostly just inspirational stuff for whenever I can get my own plot of land.

Backyard Sheds

Rock Gardens

Both are self-explanatory, but are pretty awesome!

Now this is MY kind of workshed...

So yeah...summer.

Finally been getting some sporadic summer work in for some money on the down-low while I try and figure out what it is I'm going to be doing with myself for the rest of my life. Either way, I'm falling behind on my RSS stuff again.

Found this gem floating around the web though:

The Perfect Home Office
Awesome. Pure awesome.

If I ever up with my own plot of land, I'll try my hardest to pull this off. Looks like a great way to capitalize on your real estate!

A Few Last Parting Pages

FINALLY caught up on my RSS business.

Anyway, some pretty snazzy stuff here:

Charlie's Soap
Yep, another hippie product. But considering how economical it is as well, you really can't go wrong with something like this. I've heard their laundry soap is particularly effective.

10 Must-Have Home Supplies
For anyone who has their own place, this is a good list of items to make sure you have stored away under the sink.

The Eating Tree
Having a dinner between you and your date? Here's a cute idea for dessert or snacking!

Dressers in the Living Room
I know this can be tacky as hell, but when furniture pricing can be pretty wacky, or if you just happen to have access to some older furniture, this is a pretty good idea, especially if you're a boardgame-playing geek like myself. Storage space can be a premium. Invest wisely!

Alright. Time for some shut-eye...

Man...I Wish I Had This Before...

Hey everyone!

So yeah. I fell behind on my RSS feed again. 350+ pages. Yeah.

USB EVERYTHING key fob

Yep. Just as it says, and it is that awesome.

Ambient Office Lighting

After seeing this in my RSS feed, I couldn't help but post this up. SO awesome.

New Office Lighting!

Kickass!

Any Collectors Out There Need Some Cleaning Tips?

Yep. It's me; blogging about other blogs.

This, however, speaks a lot to me, seeing as I need to clean up my toy soldier collection.

Keep Your Collectables Clean

A lot of self-explanatory stuff here, but it's always good to see this stuff in list form again.

Only 2 Posts Tonight...Not Bad...

Huh. That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...

Override Admin Access Issues in Windows
I haven't encountered this problem too often, though it always helps to know how to tackle an obstacle ahead of time...

Caramel Popcorn and Hot Sauce. It tastes as Epic as it sounds.
I want to try this so badly, so long as peanuts aren't involved.

Modern-day Mix Tape, Without a CD
Nice and trendy alternative to the mix-CD, while making use of some of those old tape cassettes.

Propoganda Video Game Posters. Win.
I DEFINITELY want to get a few of these for my next place...

BlueLounge Design
This entry is all about a design company that specializes in tech-friendly stuff. Worth a look, it seems.

Improvized Soup Spoon.
Eat your heart out, MacGuyver.

Alright then. Goodnight everyone!

Some Snazzy Articles

Yep. I'm at it again.

Money-saving light bulbs
Seeing as how everyone enjoys having some light sources in their life, this is one way you can have your light, and enjoy it too, with as little impact against your utility bill as possible.

Eating some lunch at work? Use a spare coffee filter!
A rather random tip that seems to be a lot cooler when you think about it, this article points out to use a spare coffee filter as an ad-hoc plate for your food. There's also an attached link for making a reusable pouch for foods.

DC Comics to do Kane and Lynch. Win to follow.
I'm not a huge DC fan per se, but if they're going to make a comic series based on Kane and Lynch, they've got my vote of approval.

Gentlemen: BEHOLD!
Make a cannon the size of half your pinky. I s*** you not.

Green Trash Bags. About time.
Two things that tend not to go together. Biodegradable trash bags. It's about time people started making these things...

Reusable plastic wrap alternative
...and while we're on this subject, here's something to use other than wasting more plastic. Awesome.

I'm sure there's more to follow. I'm just following up on my 2-day neglected RSS feed, which means I'll be here for a while...

Nomad Furniture and Zinfadel Burgers

Alright; this should be the last post of the night. My RSS feed kills my spare time.

Anyway, found some interesting things online so far.

Zinfadel Burgers. Already sounds EPIC.
The concept of kobe burgers blew my mind when I first heard of it ages ago. And now someone thought to braise them in Zinfadel. It's the simple things in life you treasure, my friends.

The Concepts and Philosophy of Nomad Furniture
Despite my current situation as someone on the knife-edge of semi-independent college living and full-blown adulthood, a 'nomad' lifestyle is a bit out of reach. The lifestyle choices I have made thus far, have said otherwise. The fact that someone has actually explained this sort of philosophy in the means of philosophy and furniture-making is pretty awesome. It speaks volumes to me, really.

Alright, my friends. Sleep well.

Anyone Care to Join the Gamers' Tea Party With Me?

So yeah. EA is starting to suck again.

EA to charge gamers $10 to play used games online. W.T.F.

"If you trade the game in and someone else buys it they won’t be able to play online without buying a new Online Pass. The cost will be $10 direct to EA. To help you decide whether the Online Pass is worth the cost EA will offer a 7-day free trial of online play for your used game, but after that the $10 payment is required."

Yeah.

I Hate It When the Interwebs Beats Me to Awesome...

Just watch.

Yep.

That's Right.

Hello again...anyone who actually reads my blog.

Anyway, one of the biggest things I will always support is recycling. I know; I'm a hippie. However, there are plenty of things laying around your home that can be recycled that you may previously think wouldn't be possible. There's always a solution for people these days, and Apartment Therapy definitely brings some solutions to light.

Recycling the Hard to Recycle

"If you are in the midst of a spring clean, chances are you'll find several items that have outgrown their usefulness. Recycling some things can get a bit confusing. Here are a couple resources that will point you in the right direction to a cleaner house and a clearer conscience."

This world isn't going to fix itself, guys! Let's get to it!

Some VERY Interesting Finds

I know I'm a dirty re-blogger, but at the same time, some of these things are just plain interesting in my mind. Here's a few of what I've found:

Ubuntu Light
Seeing as how I'm currently using a slowly-falling-apart last-gen laptop my mother handed down to me when she got her new Aspire One, a fast-booting, cloud-powered OS that doesn't burn through my battery always looks good (I TOTALLY abused the hyphen there...).

The Sandwich of Monte Cristo
Essentially just a fancy term for a grilled ham & cheese sandwich, this recipe is undoubtedly one of the strangest recipes I've ever seen for a grilled sandwich. Still sounds pretty tasty though...

It's a Secret to Everyone
Apparently, everyone over at Instructables is having a competition for using paper coffee cups. For a trash monger like myself, something as deceptively simple as this looks pretty awesome. That, and I need a place to hid my snacks.

My Dream World
So yeah. Anyone who has honestly taken the time out of their day to get to know me knows something like this appeals to me greatly. I honestly wouldn't mind living like this. That's the one goal I wish to achieve when I finally get stuff squared away in my life. A man can dream...

Well, that'll do for now. Once the summer starts up, hopefully, I can start posting some of my own stuff!

Wait...what?

Just came across something particularly interesting through the Interwebs. Here's the synopsis:

When we first stumbled across a reference to oatmeal in a smoothie recipe, all we could think of was gummy clumps of raw oats floating in our delicious smoothies - emphasis on "smooth." But then we realized that there's a very easy trick to getting it right, and the effort is well worth it!

That's right. Oatmeal in smoothies. Seeing as how I don't have the best of logistics right now, I won't be able to test this theory out until I'm back home. However, it still sounds rather intriguing.

Oatmeal Smoothies

Definitely hit up the link if you're interested. There's a bit of work behind the method. Let me know how it works out!

RSS Feed Share, Pt. 2

Seeing as that I have over 275 more pages to look over, there's going to be a lot of posts here. There are some pretty awesome ones here though:

This is when you know it's a bad day at work...

Eco-Friendly night lights. What? They're handy to have when you're stumbling to the bathroom late at night!

Simple and cheap web hosting

Some funky-looking camcorder-style still camera grips!

USB card speakers!

Not quite an RSS feed result, but if someone doesn't mind getting me an early birthday present, this book looks intriguing!
Upgrade Your Life

Enjoy these!

RSS Feed Share, Pt. 1

So I've been doing a horrible job keeping up on my RSS, even with the wonderful creation that is Google Reader. Even so, I've finally started catching up with some pretty awesome websites in the meantime. Here are some nice ones:

Need Motivation? Procrastinate a lot? Here's some cures!

Face your cleaning fears! Pay attention to the small spaces!

An awesome Korean tech creation!

Yoda watches you while you daydream...

Book Review of Legends of the SPESS MEHREHNS!

Enjoy!

Smart Guns?!

I need to start working on posting some original content...*sigh*

Anyway, here's something our troops might be using in the near-future:

The New XM-25 Individual Airburst 'Smart Gun'

The concept of this weapon sounds pretty awesome: an AI-controlled airburst grenade launcher for intelligent target dispatch. Quite an efficiently scary weapon, if you ask me!

My Senior Capstone Project

Hey all!

My group has finally gotten a trailer together for our highly-anticipated movie! It looks pretty awesome, if I may say so myself!

Night of the Living Fred Trailer!

Enjoy!

Canabalt's back!

So yeah; I like playing random computer games, especially those really quirky independent ones. Canabalt is a good example of one. Here's a link to geek.com, and their coverage on Canabalt's newest revision:

Canabalt Typing!

Enjoy!

Holy Crap! A Double Post!

Hey guys, just ran into a few other websites promoting some green/designer tech. Figured these would be awesome.

Put A Fork Into Your USB Cables!
Now this looks pretty snazzy. I'm sure I could make something just as good with a plastic fork and a blob of plasticine, but this should give some of you crafty geeks something to work on!

Bamboo AND Renewable Energy? Nice...
LED bulbs? Always cool. LED ambient light alarm clock? Awesome. Crank AM/FM radio compatible with MP3 players? Even better! A few other gadgets on this line, AND they're all made of bamboo and biodegradable plastic? SWEET!

Alright, back to school work.

Ah...

With the end of the semester coming quick, I need to relax; take some time away from the books, and do the one thing I always love doing...be a geek.

Here are a few things I've spotted, thanks to the wonders of Google Reader:

USB Stick Gaming?
Everyone knows how much I love USB sticks. It beat the old system back at high school of toting a small box of 3.5 floppys around, which eventually evolved into a ZIP drive. Yeah; I was that hardcore of a geek.

Root Beer Floats...and Beyond!
Who said it was just a can of A&W and some ice cream? There's no school like the old school sometimes!

Dirt Cheap Storage Solutions
If anyone's looking to expand their storage in a new apartment, you may want to take a gander here for a few quick (and most importantly, cheap!) ideas to help out said problem. If I wasn't moving out in a few weeks, I'd jump on these myself!

Pomegranate Syrup!
Anyone who knows me knows I like 2 things when it comes to sweet food: Pomegranates and syrup-making. Alton Brown tells me I can combine the two. I will make this soon enough FOR GREAT JUSTICE.

Princess Leia Car Wash.
I love booty. Enough Said.

Here's hoping I can get some more of my OWN footage on this blog soon enough!

Phew! It's Been a While!

Hey everyone (Whoever actually reads this blog)!

It's been a while, but things have been pretty busy as of late.

Anyway, just came across something epically awesome on the Interwebs. Check it out!

Ecomats!

Build your own dwelling/shack/whatever using oversized Lego blocks?! Does anyone else think this is an awesome idea?!

Awesome Idea Here!

Here's something I stumbled across on Life Hacker just now. Definitely for the geek on the go who needs to keep their precious laptop protected from the elements.

Enjoy!

The ONE Video Game I Can't Wait For...

Now THIS is my kind of RPG!

Now...about that release date...

A Change in Ideas

This insomnia thing is killing me...

Anyway, after some careful thought (and me wanting to distance myself from LiveJournal), I figured one of the better things I could do is revamp my Blogger page! I figured that limiting this blog just to wargaming would be somewhat boring. It would make things a bit more organized, but at the same time, I don't feel like having to manage multiple blog sites. At least, not until I can actually get a decent amount of spare time to myself anyway.

So yeah. I'll be posting a lot more up here concerning all of my geeky finds and interests from here on out. And hopefully, I'll be able to get some work done on my fledging 40k army. Here's to geekdom!
